UPMC Hamot School of Anesthesia/Gannon University graduated its first class of doctoral students in May 2025. The class of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students received its nurse anesthesia certificates on May 9th and its doctoral diplomas on May 10th. The new DNP cohort began its journey in 2022 and featured 19 students who completed nine semesters of coursework including both didactic and clinical experiences. This program is currently ranked No. 68 on the U.S. News & World Report's 2025 list of Best Nursing Anesthesia Schools.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice - Anesthesia option is designed to provide you with an in-depth concentration in clinical anesthesia in a program where you'll average more than 1,000 anesthetic cases with no competition for clinical access. We are a hospital-based program with five clinical affiliations with established partners, providing you ample opportunities to refine independent practice. Based in beautiful downtown Erie, PA, our program tuition cost is extremely competitive, at just $102,060.
The first two full-time semesters (summer & fall) are planned as online classes, allowing you to remain in your current location while you begin your nurse anesthesia career. As you begin the third semester (in January), you will transition your didactic and clinical training to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pennsylvania.
